Kevin was born and raised in Mount Vernon, New York. Kevin solidified his basketball talents on the basketball courts of Graham School, Hartley Park and the Mount Vernon YMCA. Kevin practices diligently under the direction of his brother, Gerard Jones, an ex-football player at the University of Massachusetts and NFL prospect. Early in his basketball development, which began in elementary school, Kevin adopted a work-out regime that will rival most elite strength and conditioning programs. The predawn workouts consisted of pyometrics, weight training and shooting drills that helped increase Kevin’s stamina, muscle tone and shooting range.

The focused work ethic and training schedule produced immediate and consistent results early in his basketball career. Kevin’s additional focus on his shooting drills helped him hit 40 three pointers in his junior year where he solidified his reputation as a fierce shot-blocker, aggressor on the boards and a sniper from the outside. Teams were consistently forced to alter their game plans as the big man would dribble down the court and step back and knock down a quick three pointer, block a shot or grab one of his numerous offensive or defensive rebounds. With the game on the line- # 44 became the Big Time clutch player who would close the game out with his consistent scoring
and defensive prowess. His versitile post and perimeter play makes him a deadly combo forward who is a threat from the inside and outside.

Mount Vernon High school is a nationally ranked powerhouse which is home to 8 New York State PHSAA Championships and 4 New York State Federation Championships. With hard work Kevin hopes to be in the next line of players to follow the tradition of great Mount Vernon players who went on to play in the NBA- such as, Scooter and Rodney McCray, Lowes Moore, Gus and Ray Williams, Rudy Hackett, Earl Tatum and Ben Gordon. He is  also looking to follow in the tradition of numerous Mount Vernon players who have played at major D1 programs such as- Florida, Connecticut, Pittsburgh, St. John’s and UMASS. Kevin Jones has been described as a great player, gentlemen and asset to his team and community. The sky is the limit and Kevin is poised to take his great talents to the next level.
